Incheon Airport is about 50-60 km west of central Seoul, and taxis wait at designated stands outside the arrivals level of Terminals 1 and 2. Taxis here do not use flat rates by default; instead the fare is calculated on the meter by distance and time, and the airport expressway toll of about KRW 7,900 is added to whatever the meter shows.
A standard (orange or silver) metered taxi to central Seoul typically totals around KRW 70,000-100,000 depending on your neighbourhood and traffic, tolls included. Deluxe (black) taxis cost more, and a 20-40% night surcharge applies between 22:00 and 04:00. For English-speaking service, Seoul's official International Taxi offers zone-based flat rates with all tolls included, though these run roughly 20-40% higher than a regular metered ride.
Journey time is usually 60-75 minutes to central districts such as Myeongdong, Jongno, or Gangnam, and can be longer during rush hour. Gangnam, on the south side of the river, is generally the priciest common destination.
Ride-hailing is dominated by the local Kakao T app, which lets you call a taxi and see an estimate; Uber operates in Seoul largely through Kakao-linked licensed taxis. These are convenient for cashless payment and language barriers.

Other ways to the city
Incheon has one of the best airport rail links in Asia, plus a dense network of coaches that reach almost every Seoul district directly.
- AREX Express Train - non-stop to Seoul Station in about 43 minutes for roughly 9,500 KRW, with reserved seats and generous luggage space. Seoul Station has city check-in for some airlines.
- AREX All-Stop Train - the commuter version, about 59 minutes to Seoul Station for around 4,450 KRW with a T-money card, stopping at Hongdae, Digital Media City and Gimpo Airport.
- KAL Limousine buses - premium coaches to major hotel clusters in Myeongdong, Gangnam and Jamsil, around 18,000 KRW.
- Standard airport buses - 6000-series routes serve nearly every neighbourhood for 10,000-17,000 KRW, taking 70-110 minutes.
- Night buses (N6000/N6001) - run through the small hours to Seoul Station and Gangnam when the trains are closed.
