PUS — Busan (Gimhae) — Taxi Fare Guide

Taxis at Gimhae are strictly metered and queue at a clearly marked rank outside the arrivals area. There is no prepaid counter — the driver simply runs the meter. A regular (orange/silver) taxi to central Busan, such as Seomyeon or Nampo-dong, typically costs ₩18,000–25,000 and takes 25–40 minutes. To the eastern beach and convention districts of Haeundae or Centum City, expect ₩25,000–35,000 and 35–45 minutes.

Two taxi grades operate: standard taxis and premium 'Deluxe' (black) taxis, which have higher meter rates but more space. A late-night surcharge of about 20% applies between roughly 23:00 and 04:00, and any expressway tolls are added to the meter. Fares are very reasonable by international standards, so a taxi is a popular door-to-door choice, especially for groups or those with luggage.

For app-based rides, Kakao T is the dominant ride-hailing app in Korea and has an English-language interface. You can hail a metered taxi through it (often the same taxis at the rank) and pay by registered card. It is especially useful for very late arrivals after 23:00 when public transport winds down. International Uber largely routes through Kakao/local taxis here, so Kakao T is the practical app to install.

Practical tips: Carry a card or cash; most taxis take T-money and credit cards. Note the late-night 20% surcharge and expressway tolls. For solo budget travellers the light rail is far cheaper, but a metered taxi is quick and stress-free for groups arriving with luggage.
