Athens International Airport (ATH) — Taxi Fare Guide
Official yellow taxis wait 24/7 at Exit 3 of the Arrivals level at Athens International Airport (ATH); no pre-booking is needed. Greece sets a legally fixed flat fare for the airport-to-city-centre run, so it is not metered on this route.
The flat fare is €40 from 05:00 to 24:00 and €55 from 24:00 to 05:00. The rate is set by your arrival time at the destination, and it covers everything: the Attiki Odos motorway tolls, luggage, the airport pickup fee and VAT. There are no legitimate extras, so if a driver demands more for bags or tolls, they are overcharging you.
This flat fare applies to destinations within the central Athens ring (roughly Syntagma, Plaka, Acropolis, Kolonaki and Piraeus port). Destinations outside the centre revert to the meter and cost more. Ride-hailing via the FREE NOW app (which dispatches licensed Athens taxis) is a reliable alternative and shows the price in advance; Uber operates through the same taxi network.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| City centre / Syntagma (day flat rate) | €40 | 35-50 min |
| City centre (night flat rate 00:00-05:00) | €55 | 35-50 min |
| Piraeus port | €40 (day) / €55 (night) | 45-70 min |
| Glyfada / southern suburbs | €30-€45 (metered) | 25-40 min |
Practical tips: Use only the official Exit 3 rank, confirm the €40/€55 flat rate before departing, and refuse any add-ons for luggage or tolls. Cards are widely accepted. Rounding up the fare is a common courtesy but tipping is not obligatory.

Fares are researched from official and public sources and are approximate — always confirm the meter or fixed fare before you travel.
