All taxis at Dublin Airport are fully licensed and use regulated taximeters set by the national regulator, so there are no flat rates and no surge pricing. The official ranks are located directly outside the arrivals doors at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. On busy days you may have to queue for the taxi, sometimes up to an hour after a wave of flights.

Fares are calculated at roughly €1.32 per km on the standard tariff and about €2.20 per km on the premium (night) tariff. The premium rate applies 8pm-8am, on Sundays and on public holidays. Standard extras include an initial hire charge and small additional passenger and pre-booking fees. A trip to the city centre typically lands in the €25-€45 range depending on time of day and traffic.

Ride-hailing works differently in Ireland: apps such as FreeNow (and Uber, which dispatches licensed taxis only) use the same regulated meter, so you will not save money versus the rank, but you can skip the queue and pay by card in-app. Ask the driver to use the Dublin Port Tunnel, which can cut 10 minutes or more off the journey.

DestinationApprox. fareTime
O'Connell Street / city centre€25-€35 (day)25-35 min
City centre (night/Sunday)€32-€4525-35 min
Temple Bar€28-€3825-40 min
Dublin Docklands (IFSC)€22-€3015-25 min

Practical tips: Only use the marked rank or a booking app, never accept an offer from someone approaching you inside the terminal. Carry a little cash as a backup, confirm the meter is running, and note there is no extra charge for luggage.
