NAP — Naples (Capodichino) — Taxi Fare Guide

Naples, Italy

The official taxi rank is directly outside the arrivals terminal. Use only the white licensed taxis with the Comune di Napoli shield and meter — ignore anyone touting inside the hall. Naples operates an official fixed fare (tariffa predeterminata) for airport journeys, so you should not use the meter for these routes.

You must request the fixed fare ("tariffa predeterminata") out loud before the doors close — by law the driver cannot refuse it. The set fares (as revised by the city council, valid into 2025) are approximately €21 to Napoli Centrale railway station or the historic centre, €24 to the port (Molo Beverello / Calata Porta di Massa) and about €28.50 to Mergellina / Via Partenope. These prices are per vehicle and already include night, holiday, luggage and airport supplements.

Ride-hailing is limited in Naples. Standard UberX is not available; only Uber Premier (a pricier licensed option) operates. Free Now works and books regular licensed taxis via app, which is the most reliable digital option. There is also a shared Taxi Collettivo at about €6 per passenger linking airport, station and port.

DestinationApprox. fareTime
Napoli Centrale / historic centre€21 (fixed)15 min
Port (Molo Beverello / Porta di Massa)€24 (fixed)25–35 min
Mergellina / Via Partenope€28.50 (fixed)25–35 min
Chiaia / Posillipo€28–€32 (fixed)30–40 min

Practical tips: Always say "tariffa predeterminata" and confirm the price before departure. Ask for a receipt (ricevuta) and note the taxi's CP number if you have a complaint. Do not let a driver switch to the meter for a fixed-fare destination. Traffic to the port can be slow, but the price stays fixed regardless.

Other ways to the city

The cheapest and most reliable way into Naples is the official Alibus airport shuttle, plus a shared taxi option:

  • Alibus shuttle: The ANM Alibus links the airport with Napoli Centrale station (about 15 min) and the port (Molo Beverello / Porta di Massa, about 25–35 min). Tickets cost €5 one way (buy online, at the vending machine or the ticket office; on-board may cost more). Runs roughly every 15–30 minutes from about 05:30 to midnight.
  • Taxi Collettivo (shared taxi): A shared ride connecting the airport, Central Station and Port for about €6 per passenger, departing once three passengers are ready.
  • Onward: From Napoli Centrale you can connect to the metro, regional trains and the Circumvesuviana for Pompeii and Sorrento.
💡 Fares shown are approximate estimates and can vary with traffic, time of day, luggage and operator. Always confirm the price before your trip and use official, licensed taxis or a pre-booked transfer.
