FCO — Rome (Fiumicino / Leonardo da Vinci) — Taxi Fare Guide
Official white taxis wait at the Arrivals level ranks in front of Terminals 1 and 3 at Fiumicino. Use only the licensed municipal taxis of Rome (Comune di Roma) or Fiumicino; ignore drivers who approach you inside the terminal, as these touts often charge far more than the regulated fare.
Rome operates an official fixed flat fare of €55 for any trip between Fiumicino and the historic centre within the Aurelian Walls. This price is set by Aeroporti di Roma and the city, covers up to four passengers and their luggage, and already includes all supplements, so there is no legitimate night, holiday or baggage surcharge on this route. Older guides still quoting €48 or €50 are out of date.
Other destinations have their own fixed fares (for example Tiburtina Station €60, Ostiense Station €50, Civitavecchia cruise port €130). For any destination without a set price inside the Grande Raccordo Anulare ring road the metered fare cannot exceed €80. Drivers are required to accept credit and debit cards, so you can decline a cash-only demand.
Ride-hailing via Uber (Uber Black/Van) and the FreeNow app is available but usually costs more than the €55 flat taxi fare. Confirm the €55 fixed rate and your destination with the driver before departing.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| Historic centre (inside Aurelian Walls) | €55 (fixed) | 45-60 min |
| Termini / Vatican | €55 (fixed) | 45-55 min |
| Tiburtina Station | €60 (fixed) | 50-65 min |
| Ostiense Station | €50 (fixed) | 35-45 min |
Practical tips: Insist on the €55 fixed fare to the walled centre and check that your hotel is inside the Aurelian Walls. Use only official white taxis with a meter and Rome/Fiumicino markings, pay by card if you prefer, and keep the receipt. Fares are approximate and traffic can lengthen the trip.
