HYD — Hyderabad (Rajiv Gandhi) — Taxi Fare Guide
Inside the arrivals hall you will find the official Hyderabad Airport Cabs (HAC) prepaid counter, offering government-approved, zone-based fixed fares. This is the safest option for first-time visitors: you pay at the counter, receive a slip, and are directed to a marked vehicle, avoiding any negotiation. A prepaid AC cab to Hitech City or Gachibowli runs roughly ₹800–1,000, and to Banjara Hills or the city centre around ₹700–900.
Ride-hailing is very popular here. Ola and Uber both operate from a dedicated pickup zone just outside arrivals and can be booked on free airport WiFi. Base fares for an Uber Go or Ola Mini are often ₹600–850, but surge pricing of 1.5–2x applies during peak hours, and the ORR toll (₹130–180) is added at the end of the trip. Ola also runs an all-women 'She Cabs' service from the airport.
All taxis use the Outer Ring Road expressway for the fastest run into town. Budget roughly 45–60 minutes to the IT corridor and up to 70 minutes to Secunderabad or the old city in heavy traffic. Metered street taxis are uncommon at the airport, so stick to the prepaid counter or an app rather than accepting a ride from touts near the exit.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| Hitech City / Gachibowli | ₹800–1,000 | 45–60 min |
| Banjara Hills / Jubilee Hills | ₹700–900 | 50–65 min |
| Secunderabad | ₹900–1,100 | 60–75 min |
| Charminar / Old City | ₹800–1,000 | 55–70 min |
Practical tips: Always confirm whether the ORR toll is included before you ride. Prepaid HAC fares are fixed with no night surcharge, while Ola/Uber can surge late at night. Keep small cash for tolls, and use the free airport WiFi to book your app cab before leaving the terminal.
Other ways to the city
Beyond taxis, Hyderabad offers a good-value public link to the city:
- Pushpak Airport Liner (AC bus): TSRTC's express AC coach connects the airport to key hubs like Secunderabad (JBS), Miyapur, Gachibowli and HITEC City on four routes. The flat fare is ₹300 and buses run around the clock, roughly every 30–45 minutes. Secunderabad to the airport takes about 1 hour 10 minutes. Tickets are bought on board.
- Metro feeder: Hyderabad Metro does not run to the airport directly. Instead, take the Pushpak bus to a hub such as Miyapur or Ameerpet and transfer to the Metro to reach central destinations quickly and cheaply.
- App cabs / prepaid taxi: For door-to-door convenience, Ola, Uber or the HAC prepaid counter remain the fastest options at ₹700–1,000 plus toll.
Fares are researched from official and public sources and are approximate — always confirm the meter or fixed fare before you travel.
