BLR — Bengaluru (Kempegowda) — Taxi Fare Guide
Kempegowda International Airport lies about 35–40 km north of central Bengaluru, so this is one of India's longer airport transfers — budget 60–90 minutes, or more in rush-hour traffic. For a fixed, hassle-free rate, use the official prepaid taxi and KSTDC counters inside the arrivals hall, or licensed operators such as Meru and Mega Cabs. You pay at the counter, receive a receipt, and are matched to a driver — no on-road haggling.
The airport publishes regulated fares: a base of around INR 100 for the first 4 km and about INR 24 per km for an AC sedan, plus waiting charges. In practice a metered/prepaid ride to the central business district works out to roughly INR 1,000–1,800. Expressway and NICE-road tolls (a few hundred rupees) are added on top, and a night surcharge applies in the late hours.
Fares vary by district: MG Road, Koramangala and Indiranagar typically land in the INR 1,000–1,400 range, while farther-out tech hubs like Whitefield or Electronic City can reach INR 1,500–2,200. Because the distance is long, small differences in the per-km rate add up, so a prepaid fixed price protects you from meter surprises in traffic.
Ride-hailing is heavily used: Ola and Uber both have dedicated app-based pickup zones with clear signage outside the terminal, and often undercut prepaid taxis (roughly INR 800–1,500 to the centre), though app prices surge at peak times. BLR also runs official Vayu Vajra airport buses for budget travellers.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| MG Road / city centre | INR 1,000–1,500 | 60–90 min |
| Koramangala | INR 1,100–1,600 | 70–95 min |
| Indiranagar | INR 1,000–1,400 | 60–85 min |
| Whitefield / Electronic City | INR 1,500–2,200 | 75–110 min |
Practical tips: Use the prepaid/KSTDC counter or an Ola/Uber booking rather than drivers touting outside; insist on the meter or a printed prepaid receipt. Confirm whether tolls are included in your quote, carry some cash for tolls even if you pay the fare by app, and allow extra time during Bengaluru's notorious peak-hour congestion.
Fares are researched from official and public sources and are approximate — always confirm the meter or fixed fare before you travel.
