Frankfurt Airport (FRA) — Taxi Fare Guide
Official cream-and-white taxis wait 24/7 at the designated ranks outside Terminal 1 (Arrivals hall B and Departures) and Terminal 2. Simply take the first taxi in the line; there is no need to book. All are licensed and metered.
Frankfurt has no fixed airport flat fare for regular taxis; fares are metered. The meter starts at about €3.50-€4.00 base, then roughly €1.75-€2.00 per kilometre, with waiting time charged when stationary. There is no separate airport surcharge, though a small booking fee applies if you order by phone or app.
A typical metered ride to Frankfurt Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) and the surrounding Bahnhofsviertel runs about €28-€35, while most central hotels and the Innenstadt fall in the €30-€45 range. Longer trips (Messe/trade fair, Westend, Sachsenhausen) are similar. Confirm the driver runs the meter; cards are generally accepted.
Uber, Bolt and FreeNow operate at FRA with pick-up at marked points and prices similar to or slightly below street taxis. Some private-transfer firms offer fixed prices from around €35, but the standard airport taxi is metered.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) | €28-€35 | 15-20 min |
| City centre / Innenstadt hotels | €30-€45 | 20-30 min |
| Messe (trade fair grounds) | €30-€40 | 20-25 min |
| Sachsenhausen / Westend | €30-€45 | 20-30 min |
Practical tips: Take only the official rank taxis, check the meter is on, and remember the S-Bahn (lines S8/S9, about €5-€6, 12-15 minutes) reaches the city centre far cheaper. Fares are approximate and rise with traffic and waiting time.
