CGK — Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta) — Taxi Fare Guide

Jakarta, Indonesia

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport sits about 20 km northwest of central Jakarta, and the most reliable option is the official Blue Bird (Silver Bird) metered taxi. Counters are inside the arrival halls of Terminals 1, 2 and 3; staff there hand you a card with your driver and car number. Blue Bird's blue livery and bird logo are widely trusted; avoid unmarked touts who approach you inside the terminal offering flat prices.

Fares are metered, not fixed. The flag fall is around IDR 7,500 and an airport surcharge applies depending on your destination zone. A typical run to Central Jakarta (Sudirman, Thamrin, Menteng) totals about IDR 150,000–250,000. Tolls on the airport expressway (roughly IDR 15,000–20,000) are paid separately and in cash — the driver will ask you to cover them, which is normal and correct.

Traffic is the biggest variable in Jakarta. A ride that runs IDR 180,000 in light traffic can climb to IDR 300,000–350,000 during morning and evening rush hours because the meter keeps ticking while you sit still — the per-km rate does not change. Budget 45–90 minutes and keep small cash for tolls and tips.

Ride-hailing is popular and often cheaper: Grab and Gojek both operate at CGK with designated pickup points, quoting a fixed price in-app (frequently IDR 120,000–200,000 to the centre). Blue Bird also has its own MyBlueBird app.

DestinationApprox. fareTime
Central Jakarta (Sudirman/Thamrin)IDR 175,000–250,00045–75 min
Menteng / GambirIDR 150,000–220,00045–70 min
Kota Tua (Old Town)IDR 130,000–200,00040–65 min
Kuningan / SCBD business districtIDR 180,000–260,00050–80 min

Practical tips: Use only the official Blue Bird counter or the Grab/Gojek pickup zones; ignore drivers who quote a flat fare inside the arrivals hall. Insist the meter is switched on at the start, keep IDR 20,000–50,000 in small notes for tolls, and have your hotel address written down since many drivers speak limited English.

💡 Fares shown are approximate estimates and can vary with traffic, time of day, luggage and operator. Always confirm the price before your trip and use official, licensed taxis or a pre-booked transfer.
