DPS — Bali (Ngurah Rai) — Taxi Fare Guide
I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) has an official airport taxi counter in the arrivals area where you pre-pay a fixed, zone-based fare and receive a coupon before being escorted to your car. This is the safest walk-up option: prices are posted and there is no meter negotiation. Expect roughly IDR 80,000–150,000 to Kuta/Legian, IDR 150,000–200,000 to Seminyak, and considerably more for Ubud or the northern beaches.
Ignore freelance drivers who approach you inside the terminal offering "taxi, transport?" — their quotes are typically double the official rate. The metered Blue Bird company (Bali's most reputable metered operator) is reliable in the wider city, but for airport departures the fixed-price counter is the norm. A night surcharge of around IDR 50,000 can apply for late-evening and early-morning pickups, and rates rise during peak holidays (Nyepi, Eid, Christmas and New Year).
Grab is now officially permitted at DPS, with a dedicated Grab Lounge in the arrivals Pick-Up Zone; app fares to Kuta typically run IDR 60,000–100,000 and to Ubud around IDR 200,000–320,000, with a small airport levy already included. Gojek generally cannot enter the arrivals pickup area, so Grab is the more dependable ride-hailing choice on arrival.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| Kuta / Legian | IDR 80,000–150,000 | 15–25 min |
| Seminyak | IDR 150,000–200,000 | 25–40 min |
| Canggu | IDR 200,000–275,000 | 40–60 min |
| Ubud | IDR 300,000–400,000 | 60–90 min |
Practical tips: Use the official taxi counter or the Grab Lounge rather than accepting a driver who approaches you; agree the fare or confirm the app price before you get in. Carry small IDR notes, as drivers rarely have change for large bills. Traffic in the Kuta–Seminyak corridor can easily double travel times in the afternoon and evening. Fares are approximate and change with fuel prices and season.
Fares are researched from official and public sources and are approximate — always confirm the meter or fixed fare before you travel.
