OPO — Porto — Taxi Fare Guide
Official metered taxis line up at the rank outside the arrivals hall at Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport (OPO). All Porto taxis are metered and use a certified taximeter, so there is no flat airport rate; you pay by distance and time. The airport lies about 11 km from the centre.
Daytime fares to downtown Porto run roughly EUR 25-30, rising to about EUR 30-35 at night (21:00-06:00), on weekends and on public holidays, when a 20% surcharge applies. The daytime flag drop is EUR 3.25 with around EUR 0.47 per km; the night/weekend tariff starts at EUR 3.90 with about EUR 0.56 per km. Large luggage may add roughly EUR 1.60 per item.
Ride-hailing apps Uber and Bolt operate at Porto and often cost a little less than a metered taxi off-peak, with pickup from a designated area. The Metro purple E line is the cheapest option at around EUR 2.60 into town.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| Porto city centre (daytime) | EUR 25-30 | 20-30 min |
| Porto city centre (night/weekend) | EUR 30-35 | 20-30 min |
| Ribeira / historic centre | EUR 28-35 | 25-30 min |
| Vila Nova de Gaia | EUR 30-38 | 25-35 min |
Practical tips: Make sure the meter is switched on when you start. Keep in mind the automatic 20% night/weekend/holiday surcharge and the small luggage fee, both of which are legal. Cards are widely accepted but confirm before the ride, and tipping is modest, usually rounding up the fare.
