BOS — Boston (Logan) — Taxi Fare Guide
Official metered taxis wait at the taxi stands outside baggage claim at each Logan terminal. All Boston cabs are metered, so there is no flat airport fare; you pay the meter plus a tunnel toll for crossing into the city and a tip. Logan is unusually close to downtown, only about 5 km, so fares are low compared with most big US airports.
The meter starts at USD 2.60 for the first one-seventh mile and adds USD 0.40 for each additional one-seventh mile, with waiting time at USD 28 per hour. A downtown ride usually runs USD 25-45 on the meter. Trips out of the airport into Boston add a toll of USD 2.75 (Sumner Tunnel) or USD 3.50 (Ted Williams Tunnel) depending on the route, paid by the passenger. Expect USD 35-55 all-in with tip.
Ride-hailing (Uber and Lyft) is available and pickups are consolidated at a central rideshare point; fares are broadly similar to taxis off-peak but can surge during events and rush hour. The Silver Line bus is free from the airport into South Station.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| Downtown / Financial District | USD 25-40 + toll | 10-20 min |
| Back Bay / Copley | USD 30-45 + toll | 15-25 min |
| Seaport / South Station | USD 20-35 + toll | 10-15 min |
| Cambridge / Harvard Square | USD 35-55 + toll | 20-30 min |
Practical tips: The tunnel toll is legitimate and added to the meter. Tip 15-20%, with USD 5-10 reasonable on an airport run. Traffic in the tunnels can lengthen a short trip considerably, so allow extra time at peak hours. Cards are accepted in Boston taxis.
