Taxis wait at the official rank outside the arrivals terminals at Helsinki Airport, and airport partner companies such as Taksi Helsinki and Meneva serve the rank. Because Finland deregulated taxi pricing, fares are set by each operator rather than a single tariff, so the smart move is to agree a fixed price for the city centre before you get in.
Most airport partner taxis offer a fixed rate of roughly EUR 42-50 to central Helsinki, while a standard metered ride can land anywhere between EUR 40 and EUR 55 depending on the company, time of day and traffic. Shared airport taxi and minivan services start lower, from around EUR 27 per person. The 17 km trip normally takes about 30 minutes.
Ride-hailing is widely available: Uber, Bolt and Yango all operate at Helsinki Airport and often undercut metered taxis, though prices surge at peak times. Pickup is from the designated ride-share area outside arrivals.

Practical tips: Always confirm the fare or fixed price before you set off, as prices differ between companies. Look for the price list displayed on the rear side window. Cards are accepted in virtually all Helsinki taxis, and tipping is not expected in Finland. Booking an airport partner taxi in advance locks in the fixed rate.
Other ways to the city
Helsinki Airport sits on the Ring Rail Line, giving a direct train link without any change.
- Ring Rail trains I and P - both run between the airport and Helsinki Central in about 30 minutes, simply looping in opposite directions via Tikkurila or Myyrmaki. Trains depart every 10-20 minutes and an ABC-zone ticket costs about EUR 4.50.
- Bus 615 - a slower city bus to Rautatientori by Helsinki Central, taking around 45 minutes on the same regional ticket.
- Finnair City Bus - a direct coach to Elielinaukio next to the central station in 30-35 minutes for roughly EUR 7.
- Long-distance coaches - services run to Tampere, Turku, Lahti and Porvoo from the airport bus stands.
- Night service - trains run through most of the night with wider gaps, and night bus 600N covers the remaining hours.
