The official taxi rank is outside both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 arrivals, clearly signposted. White licensed Málaga taxis with a blue stripe queue here around the clock and no booking is needed. Only use the marshalled rank, not touts.
Málaga taxis are metered, not flat-rate, with fares set by the city's official tariff. A daytime run to the centre uses the lower tariff (weekdays 06:00–22:00) while evenings, nights, weekends and holidays use higher tariffs. On top of the meter there is a fixed airport supplement of €5.50, plus a small luggage charge of about €0.56 per item in the boot. In practice a trip to the city centre totals around €20–€25.
Ride-hailing works in Málaga: Uber, Bolt and Free Now all operate and can be booked from the app, with a designated pickup point at the airport. Prices are broadly similar to the metered taxi but can surge at busy times; the regulated taxi is often the simplest choice for a short central hop.

Practical tips: Check the meter is running and shows the correct tariff (daytime vs night/weekend). The €5.50 airport supplement is legitimate and added at the end. Card payment is widely accepted but confirm before you set off. For solo travellers on a budget, the Cercanías C1 train is far cheaper and avoids traffic.
Other ways to the city
Málaga Airport has two cheap and frequent public options into the city:
- Cercanías C1 train: The suburban line runs from the airport station (walkway from T3) to Málaga Centro-Alameda and María Zambrano stations in about 12–13 minutes. A single ticket is around €1.80; trains run every 20 minutes. This is the fastest, cheapest and most traffic-proof option.
- Line A Express Bus (Airport – city): Runs to Paseo del Parque / Alameda Principal via the bus and train stations in about 20–30 minutes, costing about €4 including luggage, roughly every 20–25 minutes.
- Tickets: Buy the train ticket at machines in the airport station and the bus ticket from the driver. The train continues west to Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola.
