SYD — Sydney (Kingsford Smith) — Taxi Fare Guide
Official taxis wait at the sheltered ranks outside both the T1 International and T2/T3 Domestic terminals, with marshals on hand. From 3 November 2025 a fixed fare applies on non-booked (rank) taxi trips from the airport to the Sydney CBD: A$60 for a standard taxi, or A$80 for a maxi-cab carrying 5 or more passengers. This flat fare is inclusive of all tolls, levies and taxes.
For destinations outside the CBD fixed-fare zone, taxis run on the meter plus a mandatory airport access fee of about A$6.14 and any road tolls (the M5/airport tunnels are tolled). A metered CBD trip historically landed around A$50-60; the new fixed fare gives certainty and prevents overcharging.
Rideshare (Uber, Ola, DiDi) also serves SYD from designated priority pick-up areas and is often similar or slightly cheaper off-peak, but is subject to surge pricing. A card payment surcharge may apply to taxi fares.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| Sydney CBD (fixed rank fare) | A$60 (A$80 maxi) | 20-30 min |
| Bondi Beach | A$50-65 | 25-40 min |
| North Sydney | A$65-80 | 25-40 min |
| Parramatta | A$70-90 | 35-50 min |
| Practical tips: Use only the official ranks with marshals; the CBD fixed fare needs no negotiation. Confirm the driver applies the fixed fare for CBD trips, expect a small card surcharge, and allow extra time during weekday peak hours. |
