Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) — Taxi Fare Guide
Licensed metered taxis wait at the clearly marked taxi stands at each terminal's Arrivals level (T1, T2, T3 and Jewel/T4). Simply join the queue; no booking needed. All taxis are metered and regulated by the Land Transport Authority, so pricing is transparent and drivers cannot negotiate a flat price.
Changi has no flat fare; you pay the meter plus a Changi airport surcharge. The surcharge is S$8 from 5:00pm to 11:59pm daily and S$6 at all other times. On top of that, national surcharges may apply: a 50% midnight surcharge from 12:00am to 5:59am, and a 25% peak-hour surcharge (weekday mornings, weekend middays and daily 5pm-11:59pm).
A typical daytime metered ride to the Marina Bay / Orchard / CBD area is about S$25-S$35 before the surcharge, so roughly S$25-S$40 all-in. Late at night (after midnight) expect around S$35-S$55 once the airport and midnight surcharges apply. Cards, contactless and cash are accepted.
Grab and Gojek (ride-hailing) operate at Changi with designated pick-up points and often competitive fares. For budget travel the MRT (East-West Line, about S$2-S$3) reaches the city in around 45-60 minutes with a transfer.
| Destination | Approx. fare (incl. surcharge) | Time |
| Marina Bay / CBD | S$25-S$40 | 20-30 min |
| Orchard Road | S$25-S$40 | 20-30 min |
| Sentosa | S$30-S$45 | 25-35 min |
| City centre after midnight | S$35-S$55 | 20-30 min |
Practical tips: Use only the official taxi stands, note the S$8 evening / S$6 standard airport surcharge added to the meter, and avoid midnight-6am if you want to skip the 50% surcharge. Grab is a convenient alternative. Fares are approximate and depend on destination, time and traffic.
