The official taxi rank sits directly outside the arrivals hall at Oslo Airport Gardermoen. Norway's taxi market is deregulated, meaning each company sets its own tariff and there is no single fixed rate; the price on the roof-light company you jump into may be far higher than a competitor. From January 2025 the government introduced temporary maximum prices for non-pre-booked urban rides to curb the worst overcharging, but airport runs remain costly.

Expect roughly NOK 700–1,000 to central Oslo for the ~47 km trip, taking 40–55 minutes depending on traffic. Several firms (Oslo Taxi, Norgestaxi, 07000) offer a fixed airport price if you book in advance or ask at the rank — always confirm the total before departure, as the meter can run higher. Surcharges apply at night, weekends and public holidays.

Ride-hailing is limited: Bolt operates in Oslo and offers fixed pricing to and from designated airport zones, which is usually cheaper than a street taxi. Uber has a smaller presence. For pickups outside the marked zone, normal metered pricing applies. A Bolt or booked taxi is worth it mainly for groups of 3–4 splitting the cost; solo travellers almost always save with the train.

Practical tips: Because prices are unregulated, compare the tariff sticker on the passenger window before getting in, or pre-book a fixed price. For most people the Flytoget or Vy train is faster and dramatically cheaper than a taxi. Norwegian taxis take cards everywhere, so you rarely need cash.
