JED — Jeddah (King Abdulaziz) — Taxi Fare Guide
Airport-authorized taxis queue at the Arrivals taxi rank. Not every taxi runs a meter, and some drivers quote a flat price, so agree the fare before you set off or insist the meter is used. Authorized metered taxis to central Jeddah typically charge SAR 100-150, rising to SAR 130-190 for the Corniche or historic Al-Balad in heavy traffic.
The cheapest and most transparent option is ride-hailing: Uber and Careem are both widely used in Saudi Arabia and show the price upfront. A typical run into the city is SAR 50-100, with an average JED trip around SAR 69. Pick-up points are signposted at the terminal.
Watch for surge pricing during peak hours, and expect much higher fares during Hajj and Umrah seasons when demand across the region multiplies. Many Umrah travellers continue directly to Makkah; that longer trip is priced separately and negotiated or booked in advance.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| Central Jeddah (taxi) | SAR 100-150 | 20-40 min |
| Al-Balad / Corniche (Uber/Careem) | SAR 40-70 | 20-35 min |
| Central Jeddah (Uber/Careem) | SAR 50-100 | 20-40 min |
| Makkah (Umrah transfer) | SAR 150-250 | 60-90 min |
| Practical tips: Prefer Uber/Careem for a fixed upfront price. If taking a street taxi, agree the fare first and keep small SAR notes. Terminal 1 and the Hajj terminal have separate ranks, so confirm your pick-up zone in the app. |
