Hamad International Airport (DOH) — Taxi Fare Guide
Doha's official airport taxi is the state-run Karwa (Mowasalat) fleet, boarded at the Taxi Pavilion to the left end of the Arrivals Hall. Karwa taxis are metered, not flat-rate: the standard airport fare starts at QR25 and adds about QR1.6 per km. A higher night tariff of roughly QR1.9 per km applies between 11pm and 4am.
A ride into central Doha such as West Bay or Souq Waqif typically totals QAR 40-60, covering the short 15-25 minute trip. Fares can be paid by cash in Qatari riyals or by credit/debit card, and there is no separate luggage surcharge. Karwa can also be pre-booked via the Karwa app, website or call centre if you prefer a guaranteed pickup.
Ride-hailing is available too: Uber operates in Doha (Careem is not currently active) and picks up from the designated area, with prices broadly similar to or slightly above the metered taxi, rising during peak demand. For the airport itself, the Doha Metro Red Line is a very cheap alternative into the city if your destination is near a station.
| Destination | Approx. fare | Time |
| West Bay | QAR 45-60 | 15-25 min |
| Souq Waqif / city centre | QAR 40-55 | 15-20 min |
| The Pearl-Qatar | QAR 55-70 | 20-30 min |
| Msheireb Downtown | QAR 40-55 | 15-20 min |
Practical tips: Use only the official Karwa rank at the Taxi Pavilion and make sure the meter is running from QR25. Have some cash as a backup even though cards are accepted, and note the night tariff after 11pm raises the per-km rate slightly.
